I have a pair of dress slacks that are 55% polyester and 45% wool. Can i wash them by hand?
I am going out of the country and dont know if there will be dry cleaners. can i wash these 45% wool dress slacks by hand in cold water if i am really careful or will they ruin?
I don't think that washing them will be the problem. Drying the pants will be the problem. You run the risk of the wool pulling, stretching, shrinking, etc. I would not try it. If you are to wear them for an extended period of time while you are out of the country and there is not a dry cleaner to be found, I would use Fabreeze spray to help cleanse the pants. Don't spray until it is wet, just barely dampen and hang to dry. Or if you will have access to a dryer, you could buy those dry cleaning sheets and take those with you and pop the pants in the dryer on low for 20 minutes with a dry cleaning sheet. You can buy them at Walmart.
