What is the different between a standard fit shirt and tailored and slim fit?
I was told standard fit shirts are for people who have something to hid, like man boobies because they are so loose.
But the other 2 I don't understand.
A tailored-fit shirt and slim-fit shirt would have two seams pinching the fabric in so that the shirt narrows just as the body narrows towards the waistline. They are more defined looks, and styles that decrease the amount of extra fabric that bunches around the waist when the shirt is tucked in.
The difference between a tailored-fit shirt and a slim-fit shirt is usually in exactly how much the shirt follows the body shape. A slim-fit shirt has the least amount of fabric allowance at the waistline, whereas a tailored-fit shirt remains slim all the way down, with a roughly 2" allowance at the sides at the waistline.
The classic standard-fit shirt is a better option for someone with a somewhat prominent belly. The tailored-fit shirt is a popular choice for men who are in decent shape. The slim-fit seems to be the least popular of the three fits.
